Vacuum oil filter and coalescing dehydration oil filter are both commonly used oil purification equipment. They have some differences in working principle, application scope and performance characteristics.

1. Working principle

Vacuum oil filter

Vacuum oil filter mainly uses the principle of vacuum evaporation and gas-liquid separation of oil in a high vacuum environment to remove water, gas and impurities in the oil.

The oil is heated in the vacuum tank, and the water evaporates into water vapor under a lower pressure and is then pumped out by the vacuum pump. At the same time, the gas is also separated from the oil under a vacuum environment.

Through a multi-stage filtration system, impurities such as solid particles in the oil are removed to purify the oil.

Coalescing dehydration oil filter

The coalescing dehydration oil filter removes water from the oil through the principles of coalescence and separation.

The oil first passes through a coarse filter to remove larger particles of impurities, and then enters the coalescing filter element. The coalescing filter element is hydrophilic and can coalesce tiny water droplets in the oil into larger water droplets.

The water droplets settle into the sump under the action of gravity to achieve oil-water separation. The oil after coalescence is then passed through the separation filter element to further remove residual moisture and impurities.

2. Scope of application

Vacuum oil filter

Applicable to various types of lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, insulating oil, etc., especially for oil containing more water and gas.

Widely used in oil purification of large equipment in power, petrochemical, metallurgy, machinery and other industries.

Coalescing and dehydrating oil filter

Mainly used to remove trace moisture in oil, and has a significant purification effect on oil with low moisture content.

Applicable to precision equipment with strict requirements on oil moisture, such as CNC machine tools, aerospace equipment, etc.

3. Performance characteristics

Vacuum oil filter

High dehydration efficiency, can effectively remove a large amount of moisture and gas.

High filtration accuracy, can remove tiny particle impurities.

Large processing capacity, suitable for large-scale oil purification.

The operation is relatively complicated, requiring heating of oil and maintaining a vacuum environment.

Coalescing and dehydrating oil filter

Fast dehydration speed, can quickly remove trace moisture in oil.

Simple structure, easy to operate.

The heating temperature requirement for the oil is low, which avoids overheating and aging of the oil.

The filtration accuracy is relatively low, mainly for water removal.

4. Maintenance cost

Vacuum oil filter

The equipment structure is complex and the maintenance cost is relatively high. It is necessary to regularly check the operating status of components such as vacuum pumps, heaters, and filtration systems, and replace wearing parts.

The energy consumption is high and the operating cost is relatively large.

Coalescing and dehydrating oil filter

The structure is simple and the maintenance cost is low. The main maintenance work is to replace the filter element regularly.

The energy consumption is low and the operating cost is relatively small.

In summary, there are certain differences between vacuum oil filter and coalescing and dehydrating oil filter in terms of working principle, scope of application, performance characteristics and maintenance cost. When choosing oil purification equipment, you need to consider the type of oil, water content, processing volume, purification requirements and other factors according to actual needs, and choose suitable equipment. If the water and gas content in the oil is high and the processing volume is large, you can choose a vacuum oil filter; if it is mainly to remove trace water in the oil, and the convenience of operation and energy saving are high, you can choose a coalescing and dehydrating oil filter.
