Walnut shell water filter is a water filtration equipment with walnut shell as filter medium. It is mainly used to remove impurities such as oil and suspended matter in water. Working principle:

Filtration process: Water flows into the upper part of the filter, and after being evenly distributed by the water distributor, it passes through the walnut shell filter layer from top to bottom. Walnut shells have the characteristics of large specific surface area, strong adsorption capacity and large pollution interception. Impurities such as oil and suspended matter in the water are adsorbed and intercepted on the surface and internal pores of the walnut shell. The filtered water is collected by the water collector and flows out, thereby achieving water purification.

Backwashing process: When the impurities accumulated in the walnut shell filter layer increase and the filtration resistance increases to a certain extent, backwashing is required. During backwashing, the direction of water flow is opposite to that during filtration. It passes through the filter layer from bottom to top, causing the filter material to swell and loosen, and at the same time, the impurities attached to the filter material are washed down and discharged from the filter with the backwash water.

Structural composition:

Tank: usually made of carbon steel, stainless steel and other materials, used to hold walnut shell filter media and water, providing space for filtration and backwashing process. The size and shape of the tank body are determined according to the requirements of the water treatment volume and installation space.

Water distributor: installed on the upper part of the filter, its function is to evenly distribute the water to be filtered on the filter media layer to ensure that the water can fully contact the filter media and improve the filtration effect.

Filter media layer: composed of specially treated walnut shells, the particle size, shape and other parameters of the walnut shells will be selected according to the specific filtration requirements. The thickness and filling method of the filter media layer will also affect the filtration performance and backwashing effect of the filter.

Water collector: located at the bottom of the filter, used to collect the filtered clean water and export it out of the filter. The design of the water collector should ensure the uniform collection of water to avoid local water accumulation or poor water flow.

Backwash system: including backwash water pump, backwash pipe, valve and other components, used to provide backwash water and control the backwash process. The parameters of the backwash system (such as backwash water flow, pressure, etc.) need to be designed and adjusted according to the specifications of the filter and the characteristics of the filter media.
