The fiber ball water filter is a relatively new type of water quality precision treatment equipment in the pressure filter. The following is a detailed introduction about it:
Working principle:
Filtration process: The water to be treated enters the fiber ball filter through the water inlet pipe, and the water flow first contacts the surface of the fiber ball. The tiny pores between the fiber filaments can directly intercept particles larger than their pore size, such as suspended matter, colloids, etc.; at the same time, the fiber surface is rough and uneven, providing a large number of adsorption sites. Through mechanisms such as van der Waals force and electrostatic attraction, the fiber ball can firmly adsorb tiny particles in the water, including bacteria and other microorganisms. When the water flow shuttles between the fibers, turbulence is formed. This turbulence promotes the mutual collision and coagulation between particles, helps to form larger flocs, and then is more easily removed. After filtering through the fiber ball layer, the clean water flows out from the bottom through the filter layer, which significantly reduces the content of suspended matter.
Backwashing process: After a long period of operation, a certain amount of impurities will accumulate on the surface of the fiber ball. At this time, backwashing operation is required to restore the filtration performance of the fiber ball. During backwashing, the water flow direction is opposite to that during filtration. By making the fiber balls fully loose, the impurities attached to the fiber balls are washed down under the action of bubbles and water force and discharged from the filter with the backwash water.
Structural composition:
Tank: used to hold fiber ball filter media and water, providing space for filtration and backwashing processes, usually made of carbon steel, stainless steel and other materials.
Water distribution device: installed on the upper part of the filter to ensure that the water to be filtered can be evenly distributed on the fiber ball filter media layer, so that the water and the filter media are fully in contact and the filtration effect is improved.
Fiber ball filter media layer: composed of fiber balls, which are usually made of fiber materials such as polyester and polypropylene, and have the characteristics of low density, good flexibility, compressibility and large porosity.
Water collection device: located at the bottom of the filter, used to collect the filtered clean water and export it out of the filter to ensure uniform water collection.
Backwash system: including backwash water pump, backwash pipe, valve and other components, used to provide backwash water and control the backwash process to ensure the smooth progress of the backwash operation.
Advantages:
Good filtration effect: The removal rate of suspended solids in water can be close to 100%, and it also has a significant removal effect on impurities such as bacteria, viruses, macromolecular organic matter, colloids, iron, etc.
Fast filtration speed: The filtration speed is generally 30-80m/h, which is much higher than other traditional particle filter media filters. Under the same processing capacity, the tank diameter of the filter can be reduced and the equipment cost can be reduced.
Large sewage interception capacity: Generally 5-15kg/m³, which is more than twice that of traditional quartz sand filters, which can reduce the frequency of filter media replacement and reduce operating costs.
Good backwashing effect: The fiber balls have good flexibility and elasticity, and can easily restore their original loose state during backwashing, avoiding agglomeration and clogging, ensuring long-term stable filtration effect and long service life.
Small footprint: When producing the same amount of water, the footprint is only less than 1/3 of the quartz sand filter, which is suitable for places with limited space.
Low self-consumption of water: Only 1-3% of the periodic water production, and the pre-filter water can be used for backwashing, reducing the consumption of water resources.
Application areas:
Industrial water treatment: Applicable to the filtration and treatment of various industrial circulating water and domestic water such as steel, thermal power, shipbuilding, papermaking, medicine, chemical industry, textile, food, beverage, etc. It can remove impurities such as suspended matter and oil in the water, improve the quality of water, and meet the water quality requirements of the production process.
Sewage treatment: It can be used for deep treatment of urban sewage treatment plants to further remove suspended matter, organic matter and other pollutants in sewage, so that the effluent meets higher emission standards; it is also suitable for the treatment of industrial wastewater, such as oily wastewater in oil fields, refinery wastewater, etc. It can effectively remove oil and suspended matter in sewage, and achieve standard discharge or reuse of sewage.
Water treatment: It can be used for boiler feed water treatment, reverse osmosis pre-filtration, etc. It can remove impurities and pollutants in water, prevent scaling and damage of boilers and reverse osmosis membranes, and ensure the normal operation of the water supply system.
