Manganese Sand Filter To Remove Iron And Manganese Ions

DATE:2023-05-31Number of views: Source:LEFILTER

Product function

Iron and manganese filter is mainly used to remove iron and manganese substances in the system and purify water quality; Can also be used for water decolorization, in addition to taste.

Product characteristics

1. Unique multi-filter chamber structure enables on-line backwashing (filtration, blowdown and backwashing at the same time).

2. Power saving: water supply directly to the pipe network, no need to set up a secondary water supply system; With its own backwash function, do not need another backwash pump.

3. Water saving: This equipment adopts "plum pattern water distributor" to shorten the distance between the filter layer and the cloth pipe, which can save a lot of backwash water.

Working principle

The filter is composed of aeration device and manganese sand filter tank. The low-priced iron ions and low-priced manganese ions in water are oxidized into high-priced iron ions and high-priced manganese ions by oxidation method, which are then removed by absorption and filtration to reduce the content of iron and manganese in water

1. Process flow Aeration → contact oxidation → adsorption filtration → backwash 2. Running process

. Aeration According to the water quality, it adopts deep well water residual pressure jet aeration or compressed air aeration, and the pipeline mixes dissolved oxygen, which is stable and reliable. On the one hand, aeration method increases dissolved oxygen in water; The second is to remove CO2 to improve the PH value of water, so that the oxidation of iron bivalent into iron trivalent precipitation, and then filtration.

②. Contact oxidation Filter media using natural manganese sand filter media, which has catalytic and filter double roles. The main component of natural manganese sand is manganese dioxide (Mno2), which is a good catalyst for the oxidation of Fe2+ to Fe3+.

When the PH value of iron-containing groundwater is greater than 5.5, Fe3+ can be oxidized into Fe3+ by contact with natural manganese sand. The reaction is as follows:

a.4MnO2+3O2=2Mn2O7       b.Mn2O7+6Fe2++3H2O=2MnO2+6Fe3++6OH-

  The resulting Fe3+ is immediately hydrolyzed to a flocculent ferric hydroxide precipitate:Fe3++3OH-=Fe(OH)3↓

. Adsorption filtration

a. The flocculates (Fe(OH)3 precipitates) formed by Fe3+ were removed through the manganese sand filter layer;

b. Catalytic oxidation of most of the unoxidized Fe2+ and ion exchange of hydroxyl oxidation in order to remove iron.

The mechanism of removing iron from manganese sand depends on its own catalytic action, and a layer of iron filter membrane is gradually formed on the surface of manganese sand filter material during filtration as an active filter membrane, which can play a catalytic role. As an active filter material, the newly generated hydroxy-oxide ferric oxide also participates in the new catalytic process of iron removal, so the process of iron removal by active filter membrane is an automatic catalytic process. The removal principle of manganese is the same as that of iron bivalent.

. Backwash

The system can adopt manual and automatic control two methods. Manganese sand is required to be backwashed regularly to remove impurities such as suspended solids that may intercept the flow and loosen the manganese sand and cushion. Because the filter is equipped with backwashing device, it is not necessary to equip with backwashing water pump.
